Backup power, planned around you
Start with the equipment you want to keep running: refrigeration, heating, lighting, a pump or a home office. Dickson Electric assesses your loads, panel and available fuel before recommending the right backup-power setup.

Generator installation options
Compare the level of backup and automatic operation you need before choosing equipment.
01
A permanently installed generator and automatic transfer switch can supply designated circuits when utility power goes out. Capacity and load management are planned for your home.
02
Choose broader coverage or focus on the circuits you need most. Whole-home coverage does not mean every appliance can run at once; the design must account for starting and running loads.
03
Already own a portable generator? We assess its output, your panel and the intended circuits, then recommend an appropriate inlet and manual transfer or interlock arrangement.
Start with an assessment of your Redmond home, panel, power priorities and fuel supply.

Your installation estimate
For your Redmond home, the estimate depends on the complete project—not just the generator. We review the circuits you need, electrical work, fuel supply and placement before recommending a system.
A free assessment is the first step; the generator, equipment and installation work are not free.
If natural gas is unavailable, ask about suitable fuel options and any separate tank or supplier requirements.
From first conversation to installation
01
We review your priorities, intended loads, electrical panel, available fuel and installation location.
02
Compare the recommended equipment, circuit coverage and required work before approving a project.
03
Electrical permitting, transfer equipment and any required utility or fuel-trade coordination are planned for the property.
04
The installation includes testing and a walkthrough of operation, safety and the system’s intended coverage.
Washington Labor & Industries lists Redmond among the cities that issue their own electrical permits and inspections. We identify the applicable requirements for the service address and coordinate electrical permitting and inspection scheduling. See Washington L&I’s city-permit guidance.
Your questions, answered
Yes, if the system is designed and sized for the intended loads and uses an automatic transfer switch. Some automatic systems cover only selected circuits. Whole-home coverage does not remove the need to assess starting loads, fuel capacity and any load-management requirements.
Possibly. The existing supply must be assessed for the added generator demand. A gas connection alone does not confirm adequate capacity; gas-line, meter or utility upgrades may be needed. Dickson Electric coordinates the assessment as part of project planning.
Essential-circuit backup may be a good fit. We identify the specific equipment, its starting and running loads, and the transfer equipment needed. You can compare that plan with a broader whole-home option during your free assessment.
A new installation needs assessment, appropriate equipment, permits and coordinated work. We do not promise immediate installation or a guaranteed emergency response time. Call to discuss availability. For fire, smoke, a gas leak or immediate electrical danger, call 911.
Follow the manufacturer's instructions. Never run a fuel-burning generator indoors or in an enclosed space, and never backfeed a home through a wall outlet. Permanent home connections need appropriate professionally installed transfer equipment. Read Puget Sound Energy's generator-safety guidance.
Tell us what you want to keep running, whether you already own a generator and which fuel options are available. We’ll help you understand the next step.
